Friends of Watson Park is on semi-hiatus and planning limited events for 2020. If you have a project or idea you would like to implement, we may be able to join you but at present we are not taking a leadership role.
On March 7 we will support Keep Coyote Creek Beautiful's cleanup event, starting at 9AM at the East end of the Basketball parking lot. People who want to help, but who don't want to go into the creek area may weed or pick up litter.
Email us at watsonparksj@gmail.com if you can bring new energy to Friends of Watson Park and we will invite you to a future meeting.
Winter 2020: The long-postponed Capital Improvement project for Watson Park is underway. It will add shade structures to the play area, improve drainage at the basketball court, create an entry structure at 22nd and Jackson and improvements at the dog park.
Completed 2018: the FEMA restoration of grass, soccer fields, lights and irrigation damaged by the 2017 flood.
The master plan shows areas reserved for a community garden, a skate park, a soccer field house, a connection to the Coyote Creek Trail and a seniors area with a gazebo and labyrinth. These amenities await City funding.
