Rescue Organisations

If you are thinking of getting a dog, please consider a rescue dog. Nothing could be more rewarding than offering a happy and secure home to a dog that has, through no fault of their own, been placed in rescue. Not all rescue dogs have problems and many have reluctantly been let go because of a change in circumstances or increasingly due to financial hardship. All the rescue centres listed below have a variety of dogs and puppies, both pure-bred and crossbreed, so there is every chance you will find your perfect match.

The Blue Cross is one of Britain's oldest animal welfare charities. It rehomes unwanted  and rescued animals and provides veterinary care for the pets of people who cannot afford private vets' fees.

The RSPCA is the oldest animal welfare organisation and rescues, rehabilitates and rehomes hundreds of thousands of animals every year, and enforces the law in relation to animal welfare.                                                           RSPCA Cruelty line 0300 1234 999.

Dogs Trust is the largest organisation in the UK devoted entirely to rehoming dogs and has centres throughout the UK.

There are a number of other local rescue centres and breed clubs that will have dogs needing homes. Many of these would also appreciate donations, help in raising funds,  and may have availability for volunteering for kennel duties and walking.
