The TBM-3 AVENGER is a single engine, mid-wing, all metal monoplane used as a torpedo bomber as anti-ship and also anti-submarine platform in the Korean War. It is designed for carrier or land based operation. Other variants included radar, search lights, missile launchers, and other ASW and Electronic Warfare modifications.
The plane is powered by the Wright Cyclone C-14BB ( R-2600-20), 14 cylinder radial, double row, air cooled engine. Attached to that is a three-blade Hamilton Standard Hydromatic Propeller. The engine is supercharged with a single stage, gear driven, two-speed supercharger.

Many TBMs survive today as owned by private pilots and also New Brunswick Canada uses them as fire bombers for aerial wildland firefighting. The US does not allow for single engine firefighting aircraft to be flown anymore.
