Spread joy with us, one vintage song at a time! Our UMD chapter rehearses weekly on campus and performs about once a month at local senior living communities. Get ready to sing your heart out, hear words of wisdom from our elders, FUNdraise, spread awareness with GeriTalks, and kick back and relax with oldies movie nights!
No audition necessary. All voices are welcome!
Volunteer Listserv:
Want to visit a senior living community? Converse with residents and hear their stories and wisdom? Have a club that wants to gain this valuable experience? Join our volunteer listserv, open to all UMD students, to find out more about our non-performing volunteer opportunities!
Membership Tracks:
Exciting news! We now have two membership tracks: volunteers and vocalists. Vocalists rehearse together and sing for the residents, while volunteers visit with the residents and engage in our philanthropy and outreach. Instrumentalists are encouraged to join as volunteers. Whatever your interests, we have a place for you to become a voice for the elderly population and spread joy, one vintage song at a time!
Interest Meetings:
We hold an informational meeting and open rehearsal during the first few weeks of each semester. Sign up for our listserv for updates about upcoming interest meetings! After the interest meeting, we'll send out a membership form to our listserv so you can become a member!
Rehearsals:
Tuesday evenings, 7pm to 8:15pm, on campus (location is announced via email to our listserv)
Fall and Spring semesters
Performances:
Weekends at local senior living communities, about once a month
Year-round (for anyone who can make it!)
