Preface
In order to help families who are looking for an affordable, quality editor, I have a few options for editing style to reduce the cost. In addition, my rates cover the entire editing and proofreading process. After a single order with me, your assignment will be ready for submission (no need for a second revision nor proofreading), unless you choose to make major changes to the content.
Editing Styles & Rates
Note: You can view sample documents edited with these techniques on the "Resume, Ratings, & Samples" tab.
Direct Editing: With this option, I will directly edit the document without tracking changes. You would not know what changes I made without comparing to the original, but the document would be ready for immediate submission without further revision. However, I do not recommend this method, since you would not be learning anything.
Track Changes Only: With this option, I will directly edit the document, but Microsoft Word will track the changes. The suggested changes will be shown in red font. You would then go through each suggestion to either accept or reject the change. This method is a bit better than Direct Editing because you can at least see the changes and take note of where you are making errors. The downside is that you will not necessarily know why you were wrong nor what the relevant rule is.
Comments Only: With this option, I will not change anything inside of the document's actual text; I will only leave comments in the margin of the document. These comments will highlight words or phrases in the document and explain the error, the relevant rule, as well as the correction. You would then go through each comment to apply the suggested corrections yourself, which is the best way to learn about and improve your English writing skills. For this reason, I highly recommend either this method of editing or the next.
Both Track Changes and Comments: With this option, I will use track changes for obvious oversights like typos, missing words, capitalization, etc. On the other hand, I will use comments for higher level issues related to structure, organization, etc. Lastly, for technical grammar errors that warrant explanation, I will use a combination of both in order to effectively teach the rule. Thus, this method has the speed benefit of track changes, along with the education benefit of comments.
Direct Editing: $7 per 250 words (~1 page double spaced)
Track Changes Only: $7 per 250 words
Comments Only: $7 per 250 words
Both Track Changes and Comments: $10 per 250 words
Price Calculation
Note: Since the price is based on the word count, the actual number of pages does not matter, so you do not have to worry about removing images, graphs, or other figures from the document before submitting it.
To calculate the price, take the word count of your document, then multiply it by the price point you chose, and then divide that by 250 - the result is the final price for the order.
For example, if the document has a word count of 495 and you chose the "Comments Only" option, you would calculate:
495 x 7 / 250 = $13.86
