Section 15 - Further Probability and Statistics
Learning intentions:
In this section we will examine:
- Discrete random variables and their probability distributions.
- Properties of probability distributions.
- Sampling with replacement and without replacement
Please note: Many parts of this section are not strictly required by the VCE Mathematical Methods Unit 1 and 2 course.
Introduction:
Section 15 introduces a range of topic relating to the study of probability and statistics. Chapters 15A - 15C are required by the study design, while 15D - 15H have been included as supplementary material to assist students. Much of this content will lead into the study of statistical inference in units 3 and 4.
