Each semester students will have one major project to demonstrate their abilities beyond the classroom. These projects are designed to expose them to new avenues of biology and also give them a creative outlet in the class.
Summer Assignment
To get a jump start on the school year and all of the material we need to cover future AP Biology students will need to complete various summer assignments. They will be given some time during the school year to complete these, but ultimately, the work is much easier to tackle during the summer. Please see the pdf below for more details. To make sure our online textbook is only accessed by our class I've removed the codes from the pdf. If you've lost your copy of those codes, please email me.
Fall Semester
Students must read a nonfiction science book (see the Nonfiction Book List) and write a book report based upon the attached Nonfiction Book Report Guidelines.
Spring Semester
Students are given the opportunity to be creative and produce a biology themed project of their choice. They can create a board game, children's book, science fiction short story, or short commercial to promote a single chapter from the text book. Chapters are first come, first serve, so students have to brainstorm and be flexible if their initial choice is taken.
