A HUGE "thank you" is extended to Kim Dame, OD Show Manager, and her husband Ryan, for their tireless effort in organizing and coordinating all of the details that made this show such a success. Kim put in literally hundreds of hours to make all the little details that can make or break a show, absolutely transparent to the exhibitors. Martha Duchnowski, Show Secretary, gets a big Kudo for writing a software program that kept track of entries as well as manning the computer for the entire show, at least 12 hours a day. Missy Wade did an outstanding job on our Show Program, drawing accolades from many for the photos and information on promoting draft breeds. Meg Birney set up an informational booth on small farming with horses, bringing in several loads of farming equipment, complete with produce from her CSA garden, and with Bob Brennan and Curt Pierce, demonstrating their use to the public. This was no small feat!
To the VDHMA members that volunteered to assist in planning the show as well as serving as ringmasters, gate tenders, office staff, booth sales, ring announcers, ring set-ups, providing breakfast and lunch, thank you for stepping up and giving your time and money for VDHMA. Your volunteer time was priceless. For friends and family of VDHMA members that worked the hospitality booth, passed out show programs, and assisted in the obstacle courses-thank you for helping us out! Many of you took time off from your day jobs to lend a much-needed hand and we humbly appreciate that.
To all-you are very appreciated for giving back to an organization that gives to you!
Sincerely,
Polly Welch
2011 Outgoing Secretary
I would personally like to echo Polly's comments above and commend everyone mentioned above for providing an outstanding show! I am proud of all our participants as well as those who toiled behind the scenes - I know how much work is involved!
I would like to thank Larry Clark for providing leadership during the past year during times that were not always smooth for the VDHMA. He was at every event, trail ride, clinic, meeting, etc., that I know of and has conducted himself and the business of VDHMA in a manner in which we can all be proud.
Now, we all need to give a huge THANK YOU to Polly Welch who, as VDHMA secretary for the past two years, has given thousands of hours of her time and effort to the club. Polly has a fulltime job yet ALWAYS found time to make sure that the business of the board was executed, postcards and membership applications got mailed, funds were raised, clinics were arranged, the website was updated for 2011, and much, much more. She has served tirelessly a personal cheerleader for our club, yet never asked for credit or accolades. Whoever takes Polly's place has some very big shoes to fill! So, for all those late hours, long miles, and unfailing support for VDHMA, I would like to say THANK YOU to Polly!
