Niente Senza Gioia (Nothing without Joy)
Our classroom of learners will develop a set of thoughtfulness ways of being that will facilitate and nurture our working and learning together. These include thinking, listening, speaking and behavior. Students will be part of a cooperative and collaborative learning environment where what they think, feel and say is validated. All ideas are respected. While in the process of learning we are also learning social skills and building social skills as we talk about our learning, assist others and are receptive to help in problem-solving daily together.

The artistic process is the lens by which we view and approach our world and learning. Our learning is not only to enhance individual student’s lives but also to recognize they are interdependent part of their community. “Children don’t need equipment, they need opportunity” as Roger Hart in Goleman, et. al. (1992). The Creative Spirit. New York: Dutton, p. 57). In our changing world, flexible thinking, working with others and communicating effectively will become skills of survival. The managing of learning in our classroom will nurture students in becoming sensitive, humane and creative.
