Introduction
Once you have defined some terms that are important for your topic, you next need to introduce the topic more formally. This piece of your presentation should explain to your audience what they are about to learn in a little more depth than you did in your definition section.
Your formal introduction should include two paragraphs. They do not have to be extremely long, but they should highlight/explain the following topics for your audience.
1. Slavery
- Where did slavery take place in the US?
- What was it like for slaves in the 1800s?
- Why was slavery employed in the US?
- Any other facts about slavery you wish to include.
2. The Underground Railroad
- What was the underground railroad?
- Is it really a railroad with a train and tracks?
- Who is a conductor on the railroad?
- Explain some other words associated with the railroads and how they used secret code words.
Be sure to include AT LEAST 3 photos to go along with this section of your presentation. Nobody wants to look at just boring old words!
You should include the web address for each picture as its caption.
