Lab 1: Introduction to Codio
Welcome to the first CS 141 Lab!
This first lab will get you started on code similar to what you need for the first programming assignment.
Normally we start every lab with a quiz, but we're making an exception for this first lab.
You should be working with a partner, using either the lab machines or your own laptop.
Before we begin you need to:
Introduce yourself to your partner.
Log in to the lab computers (or to your own laptop). Your account name and password are the same as your UIC netid and password.
If you have not already done so, use this google form to enter your information and acknowledge that you have read the Academic Dishonesty policy on the course web site, and that you agree to abide by it.
Log in to your codio account. If you haven't already signed up in codio, connect to the course using this link
Open the first program assignment, called "Lab 1 Fall 2019"
Instructions:
First open up sample.cpp and copy and paste the contents of that file into main.cpp. Then select the "Run" option at the top to run your program.
How can you switch back and forth between editing your program and running it?
Modify your to print out a pattern of asterisks inside of double quotes, to make the letters U I C as shown in the first part of the Program 1 assignment description.
Once this is working, select Tools / Guide / Play to show the guide on the screen (if it is not already there) and scroll down to find the first assessment and run it. Adjust your output as needed so that it matches.
If you have time, see the comment at the end of the program regarding using the debugger.
