The guidelines can be found here http://www.ucl.ac.uk/current-students/research_degrees/thesis_formatting.
Post
Letters addressed to you at UCL and UCL internal mail (wage slips etc) are put in the pigeon holes outside E15 according to the first letter of your last name. Check regularly.
Photocopying
Physics (AMOPP/CMMP/HEP?) photocopiers are in the room opposite E15. PhD students need to borrow the visitor card from E15 to use them (scan & send).
Travel, Funding etc.
There may be some money available for travel (conferences, summer schools etc). Check with your supervisor and ask Nadia Waller (E15).
If you do go abroad for research visits/conferences, travel insurance is provided by UCL: ask in E15 (Jim Levin).
Expenses Claims
If you can, submit expenses claims online through MyFinance; send receipts via internal mail to Accounts Payable. If you do not have MyFinance, fill in a paper form and give to Jim Levin (E15).
If any problems or questions, ask Jim Levin.
Purchasing
In general, purchasing should be done through UCL's iProcurement system (part of MyFinance). If you do not have access, or for help setting up etc., contact Nadia Waller (E15).
Some research groups organise compulsory IT courses for PhD students. There are also UCL courses advertised through weekly research skills email.
The department has also some IT courses organised: confirmed courses 2014-15, courses for 2015-16, will be added when confirmed:
Python
Labview

Committee of current graduate students (reps) who organise fortnightly TED style talks, along with pizza, beer and soft drinks. The talks are given by current graduate students about any subject (usually their research). There are also termly pub quizzes and other socials. All Physics postgraduate students are invited. The seminars are excellent opportunities to meet other PhD students in the department and find out about others’ research.
