Mission Statement
To provide the youth (9-18 years old) of the Ankeny area with proper speed/sprint training, with an emphasis on track and field.
We train SPEED! SPEED! SPEED! I will focus on many aspects for improving speed including, but not limited to: warm up techniques, starting mechanics (not necessarily using blocks), arm mechanics, head posture, top speed mechanics, basic plyometrics, relay techniques, basic hurdle drills. This will be done in a fun, but competitive environment. One great thing about track training is that it will help you become better in almost every other sport. Besides competing against the boy/girl next to you, you also compete against yourself/the clock.
I will also stress the value of sportsmanship, win or lose. When I have coached other sports, too many times I see poor behavior with kids on other teams after the game is over.
I started this club to give my son a place where he could train/learn with other kids his age. It is a lot more fun and rewarding to work hard for a common goal with your friends.
The club started in 2016. During that time we have had 50 different kids (25 in individual events, 25 more in relays) win State Championships (AAU, USATF, Live Healthy), 148 event State Championships. We have had numerous others medal at these state championship meets. We have a bunch of great kids that push each other to improve in every practice and meet.
