The following are the commands we use at Troop #4467 meetings for the flag ceremony:
Used to announce that the flag ceremony is to begin.
This signals the color guard to advance with the flags, or advance to pick up the flags.
This directs the color guard to place the flag in flag standards, or to attach the grommets to a flag pole rope.
The color guard salutes the American flag.
(Followed by an appropriate song, quotation or poem, if so desired.)
The color guard and flag bearer disband or return to where they came from.
THINGS FOR THE GIRLS TO REMEMBER:
(1) The American flag is carried higher and posted higher than state flags in the ceremony, if present. Should flags of other nations present, they are carried and posted at the same height as the U.S. flag.
(2) The color guard does not speak and "guards" the flag during the entire ceremony.
(3) The flag should be treated with respect at all times and not allowed to touch the ground.
