The Stay Open option allows to stop a train upstream to a crossing without causing its closure. It's only when the train restarts that the closure takes place.
This configuration is usefull in the case of a road nearby a station :
or in the case of a stop at the foot of a signal :
To choose this option :
In 'create route' or 'edit route' mode, open the track tab, click on the trackside icon then on the question mark and, at last, on the trigger.
On the tunning tab displayed, choose the 'Stay Open' option and specify in which direction it will aply (according to the direction of the TRC trigger on the track).
Functioning :
As soon as a TRC trigger detects an approaching train, it measures its speed (initial speed)
As the train is at half distance of the trigger, the speed of the train is measured a second time.
If the train has slowed down, the crossing stays open and the system waits for the train to stop.
As the train restarts, the crossing closes :
In IA mode, watch your trains and note at what point P they begin to slow down (depending on the composition of the train and its speed). The TRC trigger radius should be equal to the distance between the P point and the TRC trigger. Set the trigger accordingly adding a 20 meters margin.
