The US DOT established the Volpe Center in 1970 to serve as a federal resource positioned to provide world-renowned, multidisciplinary, multimodal transportation expertise on behalf of USDOT’s operating administrations, the Office of the Secretary, and external organizations. The Volpe Center’s extensive cross-modal partnerships have led to innovative solutions that have advanced national and global transportation systems.

AASHTO is a nonprofit, nonpartisan association representing highway and transportation departments in the 50 states, the District of Columbia, and Puerto Rico. It represents all five transportation modes: air, highways, public transportation, rail, and water. Its primary goal is to foster the development, operation, and maintenance of an integrated national transportation system.

Since 1909, the World Road Association foster and facilitate global discussion and knowledge sharing on roads and road transport. The Association now boasts 121 government members worldwide and retains consultative status to the Economic and Social Council of the United Nations.

CIVITAS is a network of cities for cities dedicated to cleaner, better transport in Europe and beyond. Since it was launched by the European Commission in 2002, the CIVITAS Initiative has tested and implemented over 800 measures and urban transport solutions as part of demonstration projects in more than 80 Living Lab cities Europe-wide.
