ONE DOT Hazmat Program: Future Directions

John C. Allen, Battelle, Presiding

There have been a number of changes during the last several years across the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) organization related to the hazardous materials (HM) regulatory program. These include the ONE DOT initiative, major personnel changes, the recent department-wide program evaluation of the hazmat program, the creation of a new agency for motor carrier safety, and major rulemakings and studies. This panel session brought together leaders from each mode and agency within DOT involved in the HM program to report on the impact of these changes on their program.
