Grading scheme:
The final grade is given by the following scheme:
homework (10%), the first midterm (20%), the second midterm (20%), and the final (50%). You must attend the final exam to pass the course.
Homework:
Late homework is not accepted.
Do not submit homework via email. The homework with lowest score will be dropped.
Homework will be collected at the beginning of due date lectures and return section meetings.
Only two of the questions in homework, chosen at random, will actually be graded. Each problem will give 4 points. And there is one more point if you attempt all the questions in the assignment. The total of points is 9.
One purpose of this class is to learn to write a mathematical proof, so we are very strict about this. If you make a jumping argument, you will get at least one point off.
You are encouraged to work together on homework but you have to write your own solutions. You cannot copy someone else's solution verbatim.
Exams:
Two midterms, one final. See the schedule for the times and locations.
There will be not be any make-up exams except in extreme and documented circumstances.
No cheat sheet is allowed.
Re-grading policy: After the midterm is returned, you have two weeks to submit a re-grading request. Please write down on a separate piece of paper the reason you think that you want your exam to be re-graded.
