CAUTHE 2011 Conference, Adelaide

  • Project Champions Morning Tea: 10.30-11am, Thursday 10th February, 2011 (Venue H6-09)

We cordially invite all Project Champions, and those interested in becoming Champions, to morning tea commencing 10.30am, Thursday 10th February, for an overview of the project. The purpose of this introduction is to outline the project and the role of the Project Champions. Specific tasks and timelines will be discussed.

  • Paper presentations: 11:00-12.40pm, Thursday 10th February, 2011 (Venue H5-26)

    • Conceptualising the Perfect Blend in the Tourism and Hospitality Curriculum Space (full refereed paper) This paper won the Best Paper Award for the Conference.

    • Blending the Vocational and the Liberal: A Snapshot of Tourism and Hospitality Undergraduate Degrees at Australian Universities (working paper)

For almost 10 years, a key conceptual tool in debates between vocational and liberal education ideals has been the ‘philosophic practitioner education’[1]. Almost ten years on, we explore how useful this framework has been in international debates, and how useful it could be in the Australian context.
