PROGRAM - 6 DAYS TREK IN HIGH ATLAS MOUNTAINS AND SAHARA TOUR:
DAY 1: MARRAKECH – IMLIL – AZIB N TAMSOULT:
Private driver pick up you from your hotel in Marrakech and we transfer you to Imlil (1,780m), in Atlas mountains. We will set off a 6-hour trek out of the Imlil Valley and into the Azzadene Valley. We will pass Tizi N’Mzik at 2,450m, we visit the refuge at Azib n’Tansoult. Overnight stay in the Lipeney mountain refuge at 3,000 meters.
DAY 2: AZIB N TAMSOULT – AGELZIM 3560M – TOUBKAL BASE CAMP:
Today after breakfast our 6 Day Atlas mountains and Sahara trip continue. It involves a fairly stiff climb out of the Azzadene Valley to the Toubkal Refuge over the Aguelzim Mountain pass at 3,560m. Lunch will be taken with spectacular views over the Atlas Mountain Range. Overnight in the Toubkal Refuge (Niltner Hut) where you’ll likely be sharing a bunk room with other trekkers tackling Toubkal early the next morning.
DAY 3 : TOUBKAL ASCENT – IMLIL:
Today we enjoy hiking up to Toubkal (4,167m) from where we’ll have wonderful views over the whole Atlas mountains and the Sahara Desert. Then we hike back to the refuge and to Imlil. Enjoy about 8 to 9 hours of trekking, which involving 900 meters up then almost 2,500m back down to Imlil for the night.
DAY 4: IMLIL – OUARZAZATE – DADES VALLEY
Today we drive from Imlil over the Atlas Mountains, via Tizi-n-Tichka mountain pass and we explore Berber villages on the way to Ouarzazate. Here we explore local film Studios, we drive to Skoura and Dades Gorge where you may enjoy a short hike. Overnight in Dades Valley with dinner in a local hotel/riad.
DAY 5: DADES VALLEY – TODRA GORGE – MERZOUGA DESERT CAMP
Today after breakfast we continue our 6 Day Atlas mountains and Sahara trip by transfer you to Todra Gorge which is rising up 300 meters in a narrow valley with palmeries and Berber villages. Enjoy short hike near palmery, and after lunch, we travel to Erfoud and Sahara desert. We reach the town of Merzouga from where we start our camel excursion and we watch Sahara sunset. Experience camel trek for a 1 hour to reach a Berber camp. We will have a traditional Moroccan dinner, we sleep in tents.
DAY 6: MERZOUGA SUNRISE CAMEL TREK – AIT BENHADDOU – MARRAKECH
Today you watch amazing desert sunrise, we return by camel to the riad for breakfast followed by a transfer to Agdz, Ouarzazate and to Ait Benhaddou. We enjoy a guided tour of the ancient fortified city containing countless kasbahs. Here many of Hollywood movies were shot: The Mummy, Gladiator. Overnight in a hotel with dinner. On the next day, we travel along the Ounilla Valley to explore the Telouet Kasbah that was once an important stop for traders. After lunch, we travel over the Tizi-n-Tichka Pass towards Marrakech.
