1970-71 US holidays

We did a number of trips in the US and Canada during our time in Berkeley, using an old tent trailor that I purchased second hand for a $100.  The trailor was taller than the car and thete were a few surprised motorists who saw a wooden trailer bounding down the road and only when they passed did they see the sleek Chev Camaro!

• Yosemite June 1970. A magical time. the park was not crowded and the campgrounds and trails were almost empty

• Lodestar in the Sierra foothills with International House. July 1970. We made many new friends there and started to feel more settled.  It had been lonely for Jenny until then as we only moved into the University Village in July

• Lassen Volcanic National Park, Aug 1970

• Sept 1970 Crater Lake, Seattle, Vancouver Island, Vancouver, Banff, Glacier National Park, Grand Teton, Salt Lake City, Nevada & home. This trip was pushing the limits of the season (unknown to us) and we only just made it through Glacier before the park closed for the year. 

• Jan 1970 Donner Pass in the Sierras for skiing . A bit of a disaster as it was the coldest January on record and we were skiing on ice. Jenny was pregnant and after one fall on the ice she said no more. 

• Aug 1971 Pt Lobos National Park near Monterey

• Oct 1971 on our way back, a stop in Rockport near Boston to see the Davies family

• Nov 1971 6 weeks in the UK. We had a flat in London and hired a campervan for a week in Lake District - with Henry. 5 in a campervan in the Lake District in winter was not a success!
