Keeping Fit
*Set a goal for yourself to be active in some form of physical activity
* Even if you play a sport, you should exercise a little in each of the 4 exercise types
*Young People should be active in physical exercise atleast 1 hour per day in order to keep fit.
4 Types of Exercise:
1. Carviovacular ("Keep your Heart Pumping!!")
examples: running, fast walking, aerobics, jumping rope, bicycling, cross country skiing, roller blading.
2. Fexibility and Balance Training: ("Stretching exercises which keep your joints, like knees, elbows, neck, wrists and ankles healthy. Balance and Flexibility exercises also coordinate mind and body control. It helps you prevent injury in other activities) examples: gymnastics, dance, yoga, taichi, karate, stretching.
3. Strength Training: ("You build up muscle": by lifting weights or pulling against resistance) examples: "pull-ups", "push-ups", gymnastic rings, monkey bars, weight lifting.
4. Endurance Training: ("The ability to be active or running for longer periods of time, developing a "pace" of activity that you can keep going for awhile.")
examples: distance walking, bicycle touring, swimming laps.
