Interesting Information on Canton:

History of Canton Township Link
Canton Township was first settled as community in 1834.... (Michigan became a state in 1837)
Canton was named after a city in China due in part to the enhanced trade relations the United States had with China at that time.
From 1925 to 1970 Canton was touted as the "Sweet Corn Capital of Michigan." Farmers within a days horse and wagon drive to Detroit took advantage of the opportunity and raised the profitable sweet corn to be sold at the Farmers Market.
Canton has matured from a small farming village into Michigan's 11th largest community.
Being a good citizen helps a community work. We help the community go by: voting, being responsible, obeying laws, keeping our town clean, repecting and helping people of our community, and when we get a chance "To Lead in our Community".

"Keeping Myself Healthy and Safe"
Mrs. Mckimmy lead the Tiger Cubs with some discussion and activities involving making good food choices among the choices of the "Food Pyramid". Each scout created a plate representing the food groups. A matching game was played also.
March Pack Event: Pinewood Derby
Each Cub Scout made a derby race car carved from
a block of pine. They were cut, sanded, and painted
each for individual style and design. The cars were raced
on a wooden track using force of gravity to roll the
5 ounce car down the track. The race was exciting.
It was great to see cars that each of us had made
with our hands run fast down the track!!
