B. Dissecting the Prompt

The most work associated with the Woodard method will occur in the pre-writing phase.

The number one error in writing is a lack of understanding regarding the prompt.

It is impossible to get a good grade on a paper if you don't understand what the prompt is asking.

For example:

Prompt: What is your favorite color?

Answer: My favorite color is 24.

No matter how strong your writing is...you will FAIL this paper!!!!

In order to understand the prompt, you must be able to identify the subject and task of from the prompt.

In this phase you must dissect the prompt by

1. identify the task of the paper

2. identify the subject of the paper

3. create the purpose

4. identify your topics
