2022 - Fairy Lights

We thought that having a 'reveal' would be a fantastic way to give some festive joy and what could be more magical than "Turning on the Christmas lights"?

The inspiration came from exploring a new theme. Having done multiple Christmas trees and baubles it dawned on us that we had never done fairy lights. I then recalled, 'Fungus The Bogeyman's Plop Up Book' which had always delighted me, as much for the mechanics behind the pages as the story itself. The spinning wheel idea came from that and the holographic effect from the disc seemed entirely appropriate in both appearance and context.

The strings of wires and lights on each card was relatively easy to achieve with a selection of hole punches. The assembly method also came together fairly quickly and with the "Merry Christmas" message neatly covering the 'axle' this was actually one of our less difficult designs.
