Well, this turned into something complicated! I liked the idea of returning to the pop-up present from 2011, although the shape had to be different. Despite lots of research into Platonic Solids it became clear that I'd have to settle for an [irregular] polyhedron if I wanted it to pop-up from being flat.
Ideally I'd have liked three snowballs of reducing size but the complexities of forming the tetradecahedron meant that one size would have to fit all. Even with this compromise it was still incredibly time consuming to hand cut the four discs required for each card. In total, each snowman would require 100 cuts, 96 scores, 24 hole punches, 24 pieces of double sided tape and 80cm of elastic. Each one took approximately 1 hour to make.
As for the card design, a simple playful instruction seemed to fit the bill, with some typical embellishments to make it sparkle.
I hope you enjoy building him!
PS Apologies if the tape becomes unstuck. Gently push the ball flat and squeeze the edges to re-stick them.
