WEDWAY Peoplemover
The E.P.C.O.T project included 2 main transportation systems: the Monorail for the long-distance journeys and the Wedway Peoplemover for local connections.
When Walt Disney World Resort was finally opened, the Monorail was operational on opening day (express and resort lines) while the Wedway Peoplemover opened in 1975.
Even if a PeopleMover system does exist today in the Magic Kingdom themepark, it's more an attraction ride than a real transportation system as departure and arrival stations are the same. But the attraction proves that the technology was working. In the 70's and 70's Disney put in place a dedicated subsidary called WED Transportation Systems to promote and sell the technology "in the real world".
It was indeed bought and installed at George Bush Intercontinental Airport (Houston, Texas) as its "Inter-terminal train" in 1981. It's the only Disney transportation system installed outside a Disney property and WED Transportation Systems has been inactive since then.
Below is the original 1982 brochure to promote Wedway Peoplemover after its installation in Houston and a gallery of the actual system at Walt Disney World Resort.
