As we change and grow, we learn. Our current size and grade span will serve well to test ideas and help us with our next stage.
1) Being in the center of Canton works best for us as does the closeness and warmth of a home environment. We like having access to the library, parks, St. Lawrence University, the Grasse River and local businesses.
2) We want 4-6 children at each age to provide enough opportunities for friendship, common interests, and athletic compatibility. Balancing this with our interest in maintaining a small, personal environment has us planning for a maximum of 24 students in grades K-8. We hope interest grows in creating a primary Academy to fill the need for alternative education in Canton.
3) The goal of providing choice in education has been met with wonderful support. The next step is to find corporate and foundation sponsors with the intent of being tuition-free.
4) Parental involvement builds family-school-community partnerships. We are committed to increasing parental involvement in all forms and to sharing resources between the many groups and organizations working toward the goal of developing parent-school-community partnerships that help kids thrive.
