Richard Bowen- b. abt 1600 at Swansea, Glamorganshire, Wales, m. Ann Bowen Nee Unknown; d. 14 February 1674 at Rehoboth, Bristol, MA

Their Children:

1. George b. abt. 1614 at Wales

2. William b. abt. 1620 at Wales; d. 1688, age 68 years

3. Alice b. abt. 1622 at Wales; m. Robert Wheaton; d. 1693, aged 71 years.

4. Richard b. abt. 1624 at Wales; m. 4 March 1646 Esther Sutton at Rehoboth, Bristoll, MA; d. abt. 4 February 1675, aged 51 years.

5. Thomas b. abt 1625 at Wales;

6. Obadiah b. 3 January 1627 at Wales; m. 1647 Elizabeth Brewster; d. 10 September 1710 at Rehoboth, Bristol, MA, aged 83 years.

7. Sarah b. abt. 1628 at Wales; m. 23 April 1647 Robert Fuller; d, 14 February 1676, aged 48 years.

8. Ruth b. 1629 at Wales; m. 26 April 1647 at Rehoboth, Bristol, MA; d. 31 October 1688, aged 59 years.

Richard Bowen, his wife, and seven of his children arrived in 1640. They came from Kittle Hill, Glamorganshire, Wales. They first were found in Weymouth, Norfolk, MA. Richard is found in the Weymouth town records. Richard served as Deputy to the Court in 1651. He was chosen town clerk in September 1654

"The land of Richard Bowin: Tenn acres, eyght of them upland, two of swampe, lying in the plaine, first given to Thomas White, bounded on the East with the land of Martin Phillipes, of Ralph (Allin) on the west, of his owne on the south, a highwale on the north. -Two acres of upland and salt marsh, first given to Tho. White, bounded on the East with the comon, on the west with the land of Ralph Allin, on the north with his owne land, on the south with John Upham's marsh. -Two acors first given to John King, bounded on the East, west and north with his owne land, and of Mr Newman on the soutn". About 1643 the family moved to Rehoboth, Bristol, MA.

Other Family Connections

Richard Bowen died in Rehoboth, February 4, 1674/5, and his wife Ann died there in 1676. They are buried in the graveyard contiguous to the Meeting House on the plain, now called "Seekonk Plain".

Thomas Bowen- b. abt. 1625 at Wales; m. Elizabeth Nichols; d. 1663, aged 38 years.

1. Richard b. August 1658; m. 9 January 1683 Mary Titus at Rehoboth, Bristol, MA; d. 12 February 1736, aged 77 years.

2. Abigail b. December 1661 at Rehoboth, Bristol, MA; m. John Round; d. 1710, aged 48 years.

3. Abiah b. abt. 1663 at Rehoboth, Bristol, MA; m. 16 december 1683 Abiel Wood at Middleboro, Plymouth, MA; d. 21 May 1746 at Middleboro, Bristol, MA, aged 83 years.
