WHAT IS TECHNOLOGICAL DESIGN?

Technological Design courses introduce students, in grades 10 through 12, to the exciting worlds of Engineering, Architecture, and Industrial Design through hands-on engaging project driven activities. Early on the focus centres around skill development in the areas of sketching, manual drafting, problem solving techniques and 2D/3D computer aided design (CAD). In senior classes creativity and design development take centre stage. Students are also encouraged to participate in several annual design competitions, which we have historically done extremely well in, such as St. Clair College’s "Get Skills" Architectural CAD competition, The Association of Professional Engineers Bridge Building, Skills-Ontario Architectural Design Competition, Cardboard Boat Building Event and many more. Design Students also have full access to the design lab before school, which contains six 3D printers, colour/BW printer, poster plotter, vinyl cutter machine & customized CAD PC workstations.
