Summer 2009 Route
The Greek Aegean Islands and the Turkish coast
After the amazing adventure in Greece, last summer 08, we decided to take Night Image through the Corinth canal and into the Aegean sea. Once in the Aegean we will sail to Skiathos in the Sporades Islands, in early June. From Skiathos we will then cruise across the Aegean (stopping in the beautiful Sporades islands along the way) to land in Ayvalik (North Turkey), in early July. From here onwards we will keep on cruising the turkish coast south until we reach Marmaris in mid-September.
The Aegean coast of Turkey is located in the eastern part of the Mediterranean sea and with its hospitable people, fashinating ancient history, clear blue and turquoise waters, good winds, warm weather, hundreds of unsploilt sheltered coves and bays, it is considered one of the best cruising ground of the Med.
For anyone who wants to join us here is an indicative plan:
1) Is. of Skiathos (Greece) - Ayvalik(Turkey) via the Sporades. 10th June to 1st July
2) Ayvalik - Izmir. 2nd July to 15th July
3) Izmir - Kusadasi. 16th of July to 30th of July
4) Kusadasi - Bodrum. 1st of August to 19th of August
5) Bodrum - Marmaris. 20th August to 15th of September
See map below for more details
At the moment we do not have more precise stop over places in mind. We will be flexible in planning our route south, and this will largely be based on where and when people intend to catch up with us. But no worries! We will make it as easy as possible for people to meet up.
Linking up with us should be relatively straight forward as there are several international airports on the way (Athens, Skiathos in Greece and Istambul, Izmir, Bodrum, Dalaman, Milas in Turkey) and good connections by bus.
