Glossary & Index

A glossary is like a dictionary that includes the important vocabulary

words from a non-fiction book, and it is usually found in the back. The words are listed in alphabetical (ABC) order. The important word is in bold (darker) and then there is a definition that tells what the word means. Sometimes the glossary will also tell you what page the word is found on in the book.

An index is a listing of the important words or ideas that a non-fiction book is about, and it is often found in the back as well. An index will sometimes be alphabetical (in ABC order) or in order by page numbers. An index will always tell the page number where the word or idea can be found in the book, but will not tell what the word or idea means.
