New Teacher Workshops at a Glance

For your information . . . the expectations of new teachers are listed below.
The District requires ALL newly-hired teachers to participate in 15 hours of NEW HIRE TRAINING, which includes:  

• New Hire Workshops

• Mentor/New Hire Discussion Groups

• Mentor/New Hire Dinner Meeting

Upon completion of all components of the New Teacher Mentor Program, new teachers will receive a “Certificate of Completion” from the Office of Personnel.  

Teachers will be required to make up any missed workshops.

PLEASE NOTE:

Part-time teachers (more than .22 FTE) may be mentored - Must attend mentor/mentee discussion groups; may choose to attend additional 10 hours of workshops or complete workshops upon full-time appointment.

Guidance Counselors, Speech & Hearing teachers and School Psychologists may be mentored – – Must attend mentor/new hire discussion groups; may choose to attend workshops and/or meet with their respective group of mentors and mentees, and should keep a log for the 15 hours.

*Requests to attend an alternate TC workshop in lieu of a new teacher workshop will be considered by Personnel on an individual basis.
