Last night spent some time tinkering on Robs bike and it worked fine. We all thought it was because it had had chance to dry out since the night before.
Our destination today was Leyburn.
After porridge and a coffee for breakfast it was time for another kick start challenge.
The weather was god awful, so on the grounds of health and safety it was agreed not to wear the elvis outfit, so I would have to for go the 50 points! At the bottom of the hill Rob nearly took a tumble due to gravel, and my bike stalled after going through a puddle, but luckily started and we were going again.
We all decided to stop for breakfast in Scarborough as we we're completely soaked!. Where we all took a shine to the girl behind the counter, maybe because she was a food provider or just because she was female. After much gazing we were wondering what the future held for her, then we saw her mum!
Outside I decided I needed the extra points for the wheelie, so executed a perfect one that even Evil Kanevil would have been proud of.
We went via Scarborough prom and had our faces sandblasted by the wind and sand.
Going through Thirsk I spotted a gas van, for the gas van challenge, and after a benny hill moment we managed a group photo and bagged the points.
All this stopping had an undesired effect on Robs bike and it was dead again.
We all stopped at Busby Stoop ( not Bus Y Stoop as chris described it to Tim!) The roadside relay team tried different spares while I gathered bits of wire from the ground like an urban jungle Eco warrior!
Old rick arrived just as the coffee shop shut! Tim found us and did some more filming,
It was decided something electrical was effecting robs bike so it was onto the trailer again, whilst myself and chris set off to camp, which was still 3-4 hours away and it was 2pm!
Arriving at a caravan club behind the pheasant inn we all checked in and set up our tents. Several references were made to the maggotty smell in the volvo and the fact there was no coffee for old rick and the earlier pit stop! This was to become a common theme!
A little more tinker time for rob and we out for tea.
The first round in the pub was bought by rob who swore he handed over a twenty! We all opted for the burgers, but there was none left, so steak and ale pie it was.
It was about a mile walk home to camp and this took us past the pheasant inn which said it shut at 11:30pm, now about 11:35pm. Being the last night I tried the door and we were welcomed in and had a swift half before departing some time after midnight.
Being slightly inebriated I thought it would be funny to hide in the bushes when rick old went to the toilet and then jump out. After spending twenty mins in a bush and realising he was not coming I got fed up and went to bed, before myself and chris decided to put rocks in his bed! Next day I asked old rick what he was doing at toilets and it turned out he reception on his phone so did all his updating and phoning home!
A few good nights to the style of the Waltons and time for shut eye.
