Day 1. Had a fairly good night sleep and after the lovely wife gave me sausages on toast for breakfast in bed I'm ready for the off. The wife (Sarah) did a few last minute alterations on the fancy dress costume to make sure the cut was right for my figure.
Arrived at chris's house on my mighty steed to find my parents there! A very pleasant surprise.
Mrs C made us all cuppa and then was dying to get rid of us! Sarah and the kids turned up and it was time for the off. A quick change into the elvis outfit and 50 points were in the bag, making it a more level playing field for the start ( after being at minus 70 for months!)
Hugs and kisses done we were off.
Tim, the BBC cameraman came to Lytham with us and filmed us going past the windmill.
A quick dip in the North sea and we were of to Morecambe.
We still were not sure of how many miles riding we could do without filling up, and after driving past the only petrol station in the village (cockeram) Chris's found out! Luckily old rick the support driver was just finishing his dinner and came to our rescue, along with his sister and partner which was a nice surprise. With our bellies and tanks filled we were off again.
After a blast up Morecambe prom and on into Kendal we then hit the gas and headed to Hawes.
Rob unfortunately had a local bush jump out at him, which resulted in a dislocated shoulder and bent forks. After a bit of cursing and swearing we were on our way again.
Without old Rick supporting us I dont think we would have made Hawes, but we did. Rick sorted out the deposit with the old man and we were soon pitched up and ready for the night.
A few beers in the pub, a BLT banquette and chips a game of cards, which were not favouring old Rick and off to bed.
According to a man who's name I can't remember the weather in Hawes was the worst for over 100 years, and sadly meant the Stormbreaker 3000 was not up for it. One very wet and windy night came. I have synced learned that my sleeping bag is not water proof, and I don't like sleeping on water bed!! Super old RIck came to the rescue and leant me his shoes as mine had been sat in 2 inches of water all night.
