Course Reflection
Validation and Credibility
What is your overall impression of the LEC Professional Learning Leader coursework?
The coursework was very similar to a class that we have developed, called "Leader Badge" as part of our 21st Century Educator program. Even though I was familiar with most of the content, it gave me the opportunity to formalize my thoughts and create documents to share with others about the work we do. Reflection is always beneficial to learning. I appreciated having the opportunity to do so. One assignment I had a hard time with was the Venn diagram. It was counterproductive for me to look at samples because then I felt I had to use different terms or I would be plagiarizing. Overall, I enjoyed the coursework.
How have you grown as a Professional Learning Leader?
The biggest area of growth for me was the categorizing the types of professional learning (job-embedded, traditional) and the developing a vision modules. I typically think that what we do is valuable for others and when I completed the activities in these two modules I was validated. Self-promotion is something teachers do not do enough of. I'm glad to have these structures in place to share with district leadership.
