Can't think of three...is that bad?
After going through this module and doing the portfolio assignments, I can really only think of one thing that I would change. I found that the mapping of the ISTE-T standards and TIM levels to be the most valuable. I will be mindful in the future to identify these items explicitly with my participants. I've known the ISTE standards, SAMR, TIM, and the P21 models for many years, but have never correlated our course offerings to them. I think it is helpful for teachers to grasp not only the course content, but understand these standards in order to inform their professional growth.
I have been teaching teachers for about 15 years now and I feel like I do a good job in creating engaging presentations and facilitating learning in ways that work best with adults. I created a webinar for our Camp 21 class about presentation tools and show the video Life After Death by Powerpoint as a starting place. I HATE PowerPoint! I much prefer using Google Slides due to the options for interactivity. However, because our district is a "Microsoft" district, I am somewhat obligated to use Microsoft tools. We are in the process of creating Office Mixes of our webinars which were created in Google Slides>Screencast>Edpuzzle). Office Mix is an add-on to PowerPoint. It has all of these interactive pieces you can add like quizzes, live webpages, etc. It's not as seamless as Google Slides, but it's not horrible.
As part of our Leader Badge course, we have a module on Adult Learning Theory and focus mostly on Knowles' model. We have realized that many of the concepts in this theory truly match what we call "21st Century Learning" which is more about student-directed learning rather than a traditional teacher-directed model. The elements of choice and the need for personal application of learning is what we are seeing students in K-16 classrooms wanting more of. Students want to be more in charge of their learning and spend more energy on the topics which interest them.
