Dear prospective sponsor,
Please allow us to introduce the First Tech Challenge (FTC) and our team Techtronic Challengers.
First Tech Challenge (FTC) is a robotics team competition for school grades 7-12. It’s conducted at regional, state, world level where teams build robots addressing a given challenge and compete to advance to the higher levels. It’s a competition that teaches kids gracious professionalism as its core values and inspires them to partner and help build a community with interest in STEM.
Techtronic Challenges is a community robotics team from West Windsor, NJ. It is our 7th year participating in the FTC. This year we are happy to have three new team members join us on this amazing journey, it will provide continuity to the team in the coming years. Our team this year is: Andrea, Rushil (8th), Jude, Taran, Ishita (9th), Shantanu, Kush, Kedar (11th), Krish (12th).
In addition to building robots, we actively reach out to the community to share our experience. We invite young students from grade 4-7 to participate in a workshop and spark their interest in robotics. Last year we knocked door to door in our community to spread word about robotics.
This year’s competition is named “CenterStage” where the robots have to move quickly through narrow passages to score “pixels” on the “backdrop”. Moving robots on the field crossing paths with each other will be a key challenge this year and a maneuverable robot will have an advantage. As part of a match, the robot has to launch a paper drone which is totally new this season. In the end the robots have to hook themselves to overhead pipes and hang in the air, pretty cool as well.
This year our mission for the competition is to build a robot that is maneuverable, fast. We need to upgrade the hardware components like motors to get there and we need a new control hub component as our phones used to run JAVA programs are old and need replacement.
The sponsorship we received over last years was crucial to us. We were able to buy the required sensors, parts, wheels & tools to build our robot. We will be able to reuse that this year. We need additional components to meet this year’s new challenge. As a community team we would like to ask you for your sponsorship to be able to continue our learning and stay involved in this STEM activity. With your help, we aim to make this team inspirational with a continued chance of learning for the younger kids in the future.
Sincerely,
Team - Techtronic Challengers
