FTC 2018 - 2019
This year's FTC challenge is called Rover Ruckus. The competition is split into three parts: The Autonomous Period, the Driver-Controlled Period, and the Endgame. The Endgame is also part of the Driver Controlled Period. 4 robots compete in each match with two robots on the Blue Alliance and two teams on the Red Alliance. Each team must try to score as many points for their alliance and the alliance with the most points at the end of the 3-minute match wins the match.
Autonomous Mode: This is the first 30 seconds of the match and consists of only pre-programmed instructions for the robot. The team tries to land the robot, knock the gold mineral, place the marker in the depot and park on the crater. From this period, a total of 80 points can be attained.
Driver-Controlled Period: This lasts for the rest of the match and during this time, the team can control the robot with their gamepads. The team tries to place as many minerals in the lander with the gold going on one side and the silver on the other.
Endgame: This makes up the last 30 seconds of the Driver Controlled period. During this period teams finish up collecting minerals and then latch the robot back to the lander or part inside the crater..
