(I'm hoping things will pick up the pace. I did work on the project twice this past week .. I think numbering these entries based on days was a bad idea.)
So lately I've been cutting parts. Using the 1:30 ratio engineering scale ruler I've been cutting pieces. (This is a great tool to use because by flipping the scale around you should always be able to measure things to a precise whole measurement and not deal with rounding or approximating which can make for sloppy work).
Below the term "door" means two sets of panels on each side that look just like the door on the front.
Each panel has:
One 4.5x18 piece - the header above the door.
Ten 1x5 pieces (using the 30 scale) - these are the cross pieces (5 per "door")
Two 1x28.7 pieces - the outer edge of the "doors"
One 2x28.7 piece - the center of the panel combining the two doors.
Two inner corner pieces (not cut yet, later entry)
Two outer corner pieces (not cut yet, later entry)
And some pieces for the "Police Box" on the top - that will definitely be a separate entry. Last time, I made the piece around "Police Box" separately (a center and then framed it out with very thin balsa to give it the depth) and then cut the panel and dropped it in.
The panel with the door itself will have two 1x28.7 instead of a center 2x28.7.
I recommend you take your own measurements and don't just trust mine.
(Still not sure what I'm going to do about making the light on top more authentic looking. I have an idea, just hope I can find a straight piece of tubing (or straw - hmmm?!) and a wooden, unpainted button.)
