Vocalist, Harold McWhorter, is a multi-talented native of Tallapoosa, Georgia.  His style of music has its roots in Southern Gospel yet it has a contemporary style that is most appealing to listeners nationwide.

McWhorter attended West Georgia College in Carrollton, Georgia and Alabama’s Auburn University where he received two masters degrees.  Following college his early professional years were spent in the field of education as well as serving as music director for the First United Methodist Church in Tallapoosa.

For sixteen years, he served as an educator in the Tallapoosa City School system and later at Mt. Zion High School in Carrollton, Georgia.  He is well remembered by students and fellow educators as a dedicated teacher, high school basketball coach, guidance counselor, and administrator.

In 1976 Harold McWhorter made a dramatic career change and began to work full time as a musician.  Having a tremendous passion for the art of music, his musical talents include those of vocalist, recording artist, composer, and instrumentalist.

Since making that life changing decision in 1976, Harold has entertained and blessed the hearts of music lovers throughout the South including television and live radio appearances.  Those performances often times include compositions with lyrics thoughtfully written by McWhorter and number well over 400 songs.

“Walking Side By Side” is an original composition and features contemporary instrumentation.  This song is best recognized as the background music for the documentary, “Aretha Franklin: Queen of Soul” a production for the American Masters television show.  Nationally, a vast array of singers and gospel groups have recorded and performed Harold’s compositions.

While many of his songs have made the top twenty lists nationally, one of his recordings remained on Atlanta radio station’s WSB Radio’s Hit Parade for fourteen consecutive weeks.  This was McWhorter’s recording of “Murillo’s Lesson” which was Number 1 for two weeks.

Many of McWhorter’s recordings are currently available for download on iTunes.  The title of his latest album is “I Found a Rose” and is available on CD.
