2．研究領域
専門は開発経済学、国際経済学、応用ミクロ計量経済学。 研究課題は，大きく分けると三つある。第一は，自然災害と人的災害の発生が生み出す社会経済的な影響の分析，第二には，途上国におけるミクロデータの収集とそのデータを用いた政策評価，第三には，マクロデータを用いた経済発展のメカニズム・政策効果に関する研究である。第一の課題については，途上国の津波・台風・地震や日本の地震などの自然災害被災者調査とデータ分析，途上国と日本の経済危機の分析，日本の自殺問題の研究を行っている。第二の課題については，途上国における教育政策や保健政策の分析を行っている。第三の課題については，最近の分析手法を使いながら，日本の産業政策や政府開発援助政策の効果を厳密に検証している。
