There are many old wells in various properties in the villages. If you have a well and have similar data or would be willing to collect it as shown below, we would be interested in receiving it.
The chart below shows water levels in a well that is some 12 metres deep and 1.2m in diameter. The property is just across the road from the stream in Winterbourne Steepleton and is thus at the lowest point in the valley at this location. The water depth has been taken each month since 2001.
The year dates (2001 - 2016) correspond with January of each year and it can be seen that the water table follows roughly the same pattern every year.
January 2003 and July 2012 were both very high whilst January 2005 was low. The lowest level recorded so far was in October 2011.
The levels probably "lag" behind rainfall although this has not been collated as yet.
