SWCFAG as a community group have carryied out some detailed surveys of the South Winterbourne Valley in order to assist the various agencies, authorities and local communities in identification and maintenance issues relating to the watercourse and surface water drainage systems etc.
All drainage pipes discharging into the watercourse are being recorded along with road gullies, ditches and culverts. Bridges are also being recorded noting their construction, size and water clearances (i.e. heights above the stream bed). The condition of banks, retaining walls and other structures are being noted where possible.
All this initial information has been plotted on the drawings below. Discharges into the watercourse are shown but the majority of the sources / inlets to these drains are unknown at present. There are a total of 13 No overlapping drawings covering the total area as shown on the index maps below. Drawings are on base maps kindly provided by DCC. It is suggested that they are downloaded if hard copies are required. They can be read at A4 size but ideally should be printed as an A3 size format (as created) when they will have an approximate Scale of 1:900.
NB : SWCFAG as a community group only are undertaking these surveys to assist identification and therefore maintenance of the watercourse and surface water drainage systems and accept no responsibility for accuracy or consequences of using any information shown.
If you can add to the information or correct any errors please contact the group by e-mail : swcfag@gmail.com
Drawings below are all those for Abbas, Steepleton, Rew and MT.01 Martinstown.
The remaining three areas MT.02; MT.03 & MT.04 have yet to be surveyed by Martinstown volunteers.
NB : The drawings can be downlaoded by double clicking on the drawing - they can be read at A4 size but at A3 size they are approx 1:900 scale.
