new tracks?
the record runs made by all of you are impressive, but forgive me for being harsh by asking, 'why don't some of you generate some new tracks given the amout of time spent playing the game?'.
seeing the records posted on sites outside this forum leads me to believe that some of you have online file storage ability. all you need to do is edit the 'objects' that are placed on each track and post the changed 'object_data.txt' file on your site for others to download. this is the easiest method of changing the tracks inorder to make the game more interesting. the file size is even small enough for email exchanges.
i have asked fjguarino the same question and he stated that if there is enough interest in this method of distribution, he would post the altered course data on his download area. he also stated that if there was anyone who generated an entirely new track, that they could send him email 'attachments' of the changes made to the various sections of the track information, ie. height profile maps, object data, AI pathes, track surface data (terrain maps), etc. and he would post them.

all you have to do is be first in the various races/events. each win will either unlock the courses or give you the other boards available.
if anyone has or can generate the artwork for other brands of snowboards and know the characteristics of each, with regards to side-cut radius, speed factor, flexability, etc. (all that needs to be done is to modify an exsiting one, the graphic files might take some work though.), please email fjguarino with the information and he will post the new board type on his site and will give instructions on how to intergrate the new board into the game.

new player
i have received this game, "BOARDER ZONE' from a friend and i like it alot. too bad it is no longer supported and that there are no plans for a new release.
i'm new to this forum and would like to thank those who have contributed efforts with regards to the editing and modification of tthe game.
i have gotten the 'special' track and the other program enhancements and enjoy them greatly. i am wondering if there are any other 'new' tracks, game 'fixes', or in particular, if there is a more detailed instruction set for the track editor.
again, thank you all.

new track near
i have been working on a new track and will be sending it to fjguarino so that he can post it. (i used his as a base)
there might be a slight problem. i have modified some of the map size parameters so that it is about for times the the original size, that is the horizontal (across the slope is doubled) and down the slope are doubled (but only two thirds of it can be used). the problem is that the texture maps, ie. snow00, ice00, rock00, etc., have grown from approximately 7 megabytes to 26 megabytes EACH. i am going to see how they compress and if the compression is low, i will not include some of the textures. i have to keep the snow00 and the void_material maps. please post what other i should incorporate.
the track is a zig-zag run from the top-right to the bottom-left with two semi-hairpin turns each occuring one third and two thirds down the course (checkpoints at the turns).
i tried a test run and the best time so far (on a 'clear' track) was between 2:45 and 3:00 with speeds no slower than 130 Km/h.
so far, i plan to only add trees and lighting ON the track, (something you will have to run around), and other objects OUTSIDE the track for looks. PLEASE ADVISE, the fewer the objects, the smaller the files.
as a final note, the track will be installed in the same manner as the 'special' by fjguarino and thus will rely on his directory structure modifications. any files that do not change will not be included in the download.
it is close to completion.

new track near?
if you are worried about the ground textures' file sizes, just use the snow00, ice00, and powder00 texture files. the rocks and others (snow01 ,ice01, etc) are not really needed or even favored.
as for the 'objects' you use on the course, skip the ones that are there for 'looks' only. the 'object_data' file size is not that important but the power needed to 'draw' the objects should be saved for actual game play. (the 'end-user' can add objects of their own liking if they wish.)
please do not add objects that are barely exposed, for example, a rock buried under some powder. i really hate having my character bust-ass down a slope only to have them trip over something under the snow (canyon run had some of these).
as a final note, restrict the possible 'pathes' to the course only. this way you can 'erase' (use the 'void_material') parts of the course and thus not waste any of the 'drawing' power on the unused/unseen areas.
hope to use your achievement soon, thanks.

mk2705, world record holder at Boarder Zone/Supreme Snowboarding, spoke against the US invasion in Iraq in the ina-community chat. So some good friends of Bush decided that mk2705 should be banned from ina-community - and so it happened. No more chance for mk2705 to write anything here in this Boarder Zone thread. So if you want to say anything against USA: Be cautious, you could be eliminated, either in real life or here at ina-community.
But here is the voice of mk2705 through me: "Hi bzracer, I would be very pleased to have your new Boarder Zone Special track! Would you please be so kind to inform us here when it is finished? And thank you for your work! And don't say anything against USA!" ;)

Hi bzracer, I agree: Total Commander is the very best commander of the world. I never had a crashed zip file with Total Commander, this tool is 100 percent safe.
But another reason for a corrupted zip file could be an interference in the connection. Maybe that you better make small packages and send it part by part.

bzracer's new track
i have bzracer's new track but have to adjust some of the track 'size' parameters in order for it to play on a default boarder zone installation.
according to bzracer, he adjusted some of the variables in the track configuration layout file to increase the 'playing field'. unfortunatly the changes made to 'pixel size/scale' do not lend themselves to a standard (default) installation. as it stands now, you can run the 'new' track ONLY, that is, if you were to try and play any of the other tracks or events, the game will crash.
bzracer is looking into which of the other configuration files he might have altered to get the increase in map size and i will be working on how to incorporate the changes in to the standard game.
by the way, the ground texture files used are the snow00, ice00, powder00, and void_material (_map.tga) and each turned out to be over 29MegaBytes each. (talk about inflation!!) also, i was able to 'run' the course in about 2:30.

true it is NOT a special track, it was designed to be only a "downhill race".
i am working on a track that will have jumps that WILL HAVE TO BE MADE inorder to finish. that is, there will be no way around the 'objects' that have to be jumped over and if you fail to make the jump, you will not be able to win (you will finish, but not first!).

it is a good track, you must only change the powder into snow00
material!!??

the easiest way to get rid of the 'powder' is to edit the 'land materials' yourself.
it will be faster than downloading new texture maps.
the fastest way to get rid of the 'powder' is to edit the texture file maps themselves with something like photoshop. you will just have to 'paint' the powder00_map.tga image all black and the snow00_map.tga file all white. the game will 're-filter' the ground textures next time you play the particular track.

nooooooooooooooooo
excuse me if i do not understand your message, but are you trying to SELL something?
if so, be careful, i do not believe it is permitted in these forums and you have to be careful of using 'copyrighted' names and/or maerials. that is, it can be interpeted by 'infogrames' that selling something that is based on one of their product, even though it is only a 'modification' (they might consider it revese- engineering), is a violation of the law and the license agreement you consented to when you installed the software.
