Co-Parenting for Change is a series of classes that focus on parenting and co-parenting skills that will benefit you and your child(ren). Some topics include: general parenting skills, consequence and reinforcement, attachment styles, the 5 love languages of children, communication with the other parent, and learning how emotions affect your interactions.
The purpose of this class is to gain deeper understanding of the issues in your co-parenting relationship.
Homework is a part of this course and is given weekly. The course information and discussion builds off of prior topics.
At this time, the class is comprised of eight (8) consecutive weeks and each class is approximately two (2) hours long. All sessions are mandatory. If someone is ill or there is a legitimate reason for missing a class, participants are responsible for informing the facilitators to arrange for a make up class pending availability.
Co-Parents are highly encouraged to enroll in the same round, however, they will be in different classes. This allows for the facilitators to make the topics covered in class more specific to the family circumstances. The co-parents will then be brought together for practice of the skills in weeks 6 and 8 with the facilitators. The time will be planned and structured. Feedback will be provided after each session for improvement of skills. If additional co-parenting skills is advised, those recommendations will be given to the co-parents at the conclusion of the class.
A Certificate of Completion will be provided after successful completion of the course. This includes attendance, participation, and homework.
Please Note: Students must ensure that they have privacy and a computer for participation. It must be ensured by students that no others are present for the duration of their class and that they have reliable internet to participate.
