The Sanctuary of Women

In ancient times, after the suppression of the female and the feminine hemisphere of human experience, women often sought sanctuary in hidden places, where some memory of the suppressed things could be retained. The Sanctuary here in Second Life is an imagining of what such a Sanctuary might be like, very akin to a medieval cloister, where thoughts are directed inward. Where the memories of what was lost and might someday be regained can be celebrated. Where the elements of the mother are raised up, birth, water, soil, growth and death.
