windows

The major windows of the Monastery are created by Mizou Vavoom. They echo the theme of balance and the harmony of the opposites, with a special emphasis on the equal place of female and male in the vision of life embodied in this sacred space. For too long in human history the male has forced himself into dominance, shaping a jealous and violent God in his own image, and rupturing the streams of life upon which the future existence of earth depends. The windows reflect in explicit form a restoring vision to that violent history, imagining a future where men and women live in mutual respect and power, balancing together the energy which carries on the flow of life.

The main window over the altar, shown above, is complete, while the other major windows are still under construction. Each will be installed as it is completed.

A number of smaller windows in the side aisle of the Chapel are reproductions of works by the great 19th century English artisan craftsman William Morris.
