Geography 3234 – Geography of Virginia – is a broad geographic overview of the Commonwealth we call home. The course is divided into two halves, the first covering physical characteristics of our state such as geology, waterways, and land use. The second half of the semester focuses on human geographic patterns such as county and political formation, population, trade, and the connectedness of our state to outside regions. At the end of the semester, students will be able to recognize and discuss physical and human patterns within Virginia and will gain an appreciation for the diversity of the Commonwealth’s geography.
