- Problem:
- Project Management is usually taught from the perspective of a first world developed context.
- I had limited resources and managed projects in a developing context. This context is rural, lacking resources and infrastructure, villages are far and in-between, with people having not enough skills, and people sometimes being illiterate.
- How does my program compare with other similar programs.
- Solution:
- Attended workshop held at the University of Haramaya.
- Outcomes:
- I adopted my program.
- Monitoring was no longer ‘inspection’ but rather a part of mentoring.
- A greater focus is placed on photos in monitoring and report writing is drastically reduced.
- Project development does not start with writing the proposal but with training, interrogating the idea, rich pictures, and model building. Writing the proposal is the last step.
- My program compared very well when judged against other similar programs and provided many valuable insights to other participants.
